Updates

Sixth Form Focus Group

As part of the process to involve our Sixth Form students in the design and feel of the new, bespoke St Martin’s Campus, we are running our first focus group on Thursday 8th December. Eight students each from Year 11 and 12 have been invited to meet informally with Mr Murphy and TaskSpace, the refurbishment specialists working with us on the current SHS site, to input into the project. They will consider the design and furnishings of the library, common room and coffee shop area.

We very much want students to be involved in these stages, having already surveyed the students with 360 responses, and hope they talk to you about these plans and ideas once the focus groups take place. The coffee shop area, library space and common room were key areas the students responded to within the survey exercise so we are looking forward to sharing the plans with them. We will share designs and plans with you once they are finalised.

Launch of Wothorpe Sports Centre

The new Wothorpe Sports Centre was officially opened today, Friday 2nd December. Students from Stamford Junior School, Stamford High School and Stamford School were invited to the opening with Mr Phelan. The new provision will ensure parity of facilities across both campuses. If you would like to look around Wothorpe, there will be an open morning for current parents on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th December between 10am – 12noon. Parking will be available at Stamford Junior School for those wishing to drop in and have a tour.

FOSS and SHSPA

The Friends of Stamford School (aka ‘FOSS’) and the SHS Parents Association exist to create opportunities to allow parents to socialise with one another, as well as to raise funds for initiatives to support the students of SS and SHS. Given the forthcoming merger, FOSS and the SHSPA are now planning their own merger, so as to create one PA for the whole of the new senior school. However, FOSS and SHSPA are already working closely together to plan events during this academic year. Please look out for further details about these events, which will be published soon.

Co-Curricular offering:

We have met with the Directors of Activities for our Co-Curricular subjects in the last two weeks to discuss the new timetable plans with them. Each Co-Curricular lead has been asked to compile a working report on how best to deliver our co-curricular offering in line with the new timetable. We will keep you updated on this process as it evolves.

This week’s priorities

The last week of term will be full of the usual festive fun across the schools. Our estates team will continue working through the break to keep up momentum on the logistics of hubbing subjects and moving staff and classrooms ready for September 2023.

What’s next?

We would like to take the opportunity to wish all our Stamford Endowed Schools’ families a very merry Christmas. We hope you all have an enjoyable and peaceful break, and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Wednesday 4th January 2023.

In the New Year our pastoral team will begin walking the St Paul’s campus with each Head of Year. This is to enable us to start planning for each year group’s pastoral requirements, so we can, in time, give students the necessary detail regarding drop off and entry to school, bag storage, tutor rooms, lunch arrangements etc.

Keeping you updated

The next update will be issued on Friday 6 January 2023. Copies of these updates will be shared online at stamfordcoed.org so that you can refer back to them as necessary as the project progresses. We are in the process of updating the Stamford Co-Ed webpage to make sure the most recent information is more accessible for you, so please do keep checking for updates.

If you have any questions regarding the transition process, you can write to us at stamfordcoed@ses.lincs.sch.uk
